ABOUT

*We have vendor approval for the following charters:

South Sutter, Cottonwood, Horizon,  Pacific Charter (Rio Valley, Heritage Peak, Valley View & Sutter Peak), Sequoia Grove (Clarksville & Feather River), and Visions in Education.

Let's get these kids off screens and outside! Not only are our classes fun and convenient for the whole family, but we keep the class sizes small to make sure students get the education they deserve. We strive to develop an appreciation for agriculture, nature, and the outdoors in every child that attends class. You won't find the same hands-on farm experience at any other location!

We recommend the majority of our classes for ages 5 and up and have several classes just for teens as well as monthly preschool story times. Our classes are outdoors (weather permitting, we also have an indoor classroom) and involve a variety of farm-related topics.

We can also arrange private classes for most subjects or field trips. Reach out if you have any questions.

ON SITE FARM CLASSES

Fall 2023 Classes Available Now!

We offer classes in a variety of farm-related and self-sufficiency subjects. Classes are 60-90mins in length. All topics will be announced in advance so we can be sure your child is enrolled in classes with subjects they are interested in.

Classes are held at our outdoor classroom unless there is bad weather then we do have an indoor space devoted to the farm classes.

Parents and younger siblings are welcome to hang out at the farm during class time (there is NO charge for this). We love parents to see or participate in all the fun.

Field trips:

Is your schedule too busy for farm classes? Are you in traditional school or in a co-op and looking for an activity? Please contact me directly and we can schedule a field trip for private groups focusing on one area or as a general farm tour.

OUR TEAM

Enthusiastic about introducing kids to farming

Hi! My name is Jen. I have been animal crazy since the beginning of my time on this Earth. I was that kid who brought home stray dogs and cats and, well, maybe even a chicken once. I attended UCDavis pursing an Animal Science degree in the early 2000’s and graduated from The Center for Land-Based Learning in 2016. I have 2 kids, Vivian & Hazel, who you will most likely see at classes helping or learning along with your kids. Summer 2022 I managed a local farm stand, Full Flavor Farm in Wilton. I also make jam, goat milk soap, and teach classes to adults in a variety of subjects. I am the leader of our Goat group in our local 4H. I enjoy sharing my animal experience and knowledge with kids who are just as animal crazy as me. I strive to make the classes interesting and fun for everyone. My favorite part of teaching these classes is watching a kid’s face light up when they get to see one of our animals in person for the first time. I look forward to getting to know you and your children on our farm!

We live on a 10 acre farm in Herald. We raise mini nubian goats, livestock guardian dogs, coturnix quail, chickens for eggs & meat, labradoodles, call ducks, heritage turkeys, Nigerian dwarf goats, and we have horses we ride and drive. Our farm is located in a eucalyptus grove at the end of a dead end street. It is quiet and peaceful. We love to share our farm with other people who want to learn more or enjoy spending time with our animals as much as we do.
